Hong Kong, June 16, 2005 - McDonald's Hong Kong welcomes summer in style with the launch of its "Summer Collection" program. The promotion comes with 16 lovely Hello Kitty & Friends figurines as well as five refreshing desserts and drinks.

Following the "Sweet Colors of Summer" last year which triggered a redemption wave in Hong Kong with consumers flocking to McDonald's, a new collection comprising 16 colorful and bright Hello Kitty & Friends figurines will be available for customers from June 30, 2005. These cute, adorable and collectible figurines are sold with an individual fresh fruit box. Four different figurines will be launched each week. For a minimum purchase of $17 worth of food items or drinks, customers can redeem one figurine for an additional $8.50 each.

The five refreshing desserts and drinks to be launched today (June 16) are Red Bean Sundae and Mango Sundae at $5 each, Green Apple McFloat and Passionfruit McFloat at $9 each, and Iced Mocha Shakes at $11. Customers can also choose to change the soft drink in their Extra Value Meal or Happy Meal to the new McFloats or Iced Mocha Shake for just $2-$5.

McDonald's Hong Kong kicked off its "Summer Collection" promotion at a media conference held in a private villa with spectacular sea views at Castle Peak Road today. The venue was creatively designed to invoke a stylish, colorful and Mediterranean summer feel. The event was run as a pool-side party with a fashion show presenting the new colorful staff T-shirts and highlighting various elements of the McDonald's menu. Joining McDonald's Hong Kong Managing Director Mr. Joseph Lau to officiate the ceremony were McDonald's Hong Kong ambassador Kelly Chen and Ronald McDonaldTM, the Chief Happiness Officer.

Mr. Joseph Lau, Managing Director of McDonald's Hong Kong, said: "Summer is when most of us feel alive and usually have far more fun. We want to share this feeling with our customers by giving them a memorable and colorful summer at McDonald's. Along with our exciting 30th anniversary celebrations this year, we will continue to engage with our customers through the introduction of innovative, uplifting and enjoyable food items and promotions.''

A new TV commercial produced for the summer promotion, starring Kelly Chen and pop singer Lee Hom Wang, will be broadcast in Hong Kong from June 15. The TV commercial was shot in Thailand with a refreshing and trendy summer feel. Kelly and Lee Hom reprise their successful collaboration of last year by performing the theme song together.
